A Virtual Intercom provides your guest with an additional method of utilizing the features of your community’s physical GateHawk Intercom system. If your guest prefers an authentic touchless experience or the physical intercom is not functioning, the Virtual Intercom allows them to use the directory to call you or a manager as needed from their mobile device rather than the physical intercom.
To use Virtual Intercom, your guest must first scan the QR code posted on the physical intercom with their mobile device’s camera.
With the QR code scanned, your guest will also need to meet the following requirements:
Their mobile device must have Location Services enabled
They must be physically near the intercom (roughly 30 feet)
They must be using a mobile device (as opposed to a laptop computer)
Once verified, your guest will have temporary access to the community directory.
Using the directory, they can tap on your name in the list of residents initiating a two-way audio call between you and them.
For additional details on accepting calls and granting guest access remotely, check out the Accepting a Phone Call section of our How to Accept a Call From a Visitor at a Gate article.
