If you’re visiting a resident of a community with a GateHawk Video Intercom at the gate, you can call the resident from the Video Intercom unit and ask them to open the gate for you.

  1. From the Video Intercom home screen, select the Call a Resident feature.

    • On touchscreen models, tap the Call a Resident button on the screen.

    • On non-touchscreen models, press either the ▲ or ▼ buttons to open the resident directory.

  2. Find the resident you want to call. If there are multiple pages of residents, you can navigate the pages until you’ve found the resident you’re looking for.  (Note that some residents may choose not to be listed in the directory.)

    • On touchscreen models, use the Page Up or Page Down buttons to navigate the resident directory.

    • On non-touchscreen models, use the ▲ and ▼ buttons to navigate the resident directory.

  3. Select the resident you want to call.

    • On touchscreen models, use the keypad to type the four-digit number next to the resident’s name to call them.

    • On non-touchscreen models, use the keypad to type the four-digit number next to the resident’s name to call them.

  4. Wait while the Video Intercom unit attempts to call the resident.

    • On video intercom models, the video call screen will appear. You’ll hear the ringing as the unit calls the resident and you’ll see yourself on camera. (Note that this is a one-way video chat. They can see you, but you won’t be able to see them.) If the resident doesn’t answer the video call through their LittleBird app, the Video Intercom unit will switch to attempting a traditional phone call.

    • If the resident doesn’t answer the video call, the phone call screen will appear and you’ll hear the ringing as the unit calls the resident.

  5. If the resident answers the call, introduce yourself and ask them to unlock the gate for you.

    • If the resident chooses to open the gate remotely, you’ll see a confirmation message on the Video Intercom screen and the gate will unlock. You can now enter the community.

    • If the resident declines to open the gate, you’ll see a rejection message on the Video Intercom screen, and the gate will not open.

  6. Press the Back ()  or Cancel buttons at any time to hang up the call.
